I opened my Gmail account today, expecting to see the normal range of goodies, and sure enough, they were there.
They always are there, but today was different, for a guest post on this blog came to my attention called Mental Health Awareness Week. I must confess that I was unaware that such a week was occurring, but not for long. We all have our own story to tell, and as we all know stories about caring, dealing with, or suffering from mental illness can be particularly hard to both write and read
Such is the case with this post by JOANNR7, but I urge any visitor to this blog to read the post carefully, as well as her other posts, for written with honesty and passion she really has a story to tell
Yet her story is but one of countless stories that surround us, and many of such stories remain untold, so now especially I urge everyone out there who is suffering the effects of mental illness to come out of the shadows, and to let the world know that you are alive
To let the world know that you are important, and that your voice matters, and to let the world know that there is hope in the darkness, that mental illness is a real illness, and that despite the ever present stigma surrounding such conditions, you have as much right to decent treatment, respect, and courtesy, as anyone else around
Where and how should you sing your song?
Anywhere and anyhow you like, and I don’t necessarily mean here . Sure I’d be honoured if you wished to share your story and tips about dealing with such illnesses through this blog and special project, but the most critical thing is that you open up and have your say
These damned diseases have controlled us sufferers for too long, and have made our lives, and the lives of those around us an absolute misery, so why not face the beggars and open up about them, then, one day, we might all understand
This is a short post, as I do not wish to distract any attention away from the post I am highlighting, but for those who want to now a little more about JOANNR7 please see the video’s below
